About The Salt Lake Sluggers

philosophy
The Salt Lake Sluggers is a club created in 2002 for the purpose of providing Salt Lake City area youth the opportunity to play competitive baseball. The Sluggers compete at a level which is more competitive than a local recreational league. Teams participate in leagues and tournaments designed for select teams only. While the players will compete at a very high level, the focus of the club is the development of the players and having fun playing the great game of baseball.

The Board of Trustees of the Sluggers firmly believes that baseball is a game that should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford it. Therefore, each player is required to pay a nominal "commitment fee." Keeping in mind the development of the players, the Sluggers rely on the efforts of the players and their families to raise the funds necessary to participate in regional and national competition. Working together the members of the Sluggers' teams grow as baseball players, but more importantly as young men.

The Club's emphasis clearly is not on wins and losses. Sluggers coaches look to the following mission statement of the club everyday as they provide guidance to their players:

"The Salt Lake Sluggers is a club designed to provide every youth baseball player the opportunity to participate in competitive baseball without economic barriers. Through such participation, the players will develop as players, develop as people, and make many new friendships along the way. "
